Sometimes I feel like one of the most interesting part of being a destination wedding planner is actually meeting people from all over the world, and learning about their culture and traditions. Two years ago I was lucky enough to meet Roman and Svetlana from St. Petersburg and to help them plan their intimate wedding on Lake Orta.
Roman and Svetlana know Italy quite well and have traveled extensively along the Country but they first came to me asking me to find the perfect location for their wedding. They wanted to get married by the water and were thinking of hosting their nuptials in Sorrento, but they’d soon realized it was impractical. As I always do with my clients I interviewed them extensively, trying to envision the kind of elegant yet festive, intimate celebration they had in mind, then I suggested Lake Orta.
It was a hit. Not only Roman and Svetlana loved it, but the destination proved to be exactly what their party needed. At Orta San Giulio, they were able to have their ceremony by the water, getting legally married at Villa Bossi.
The picturesque village lent itself to be the backdrop of an amazing series of photographs shot by Peter Karasev and his girlfriend Violetta Pudovkina, while the guests were out on Island San Giulio for a leisurely guided tour.
Later in the evening their guests and I welcomed Roman and Svetlana at Hotel San Rocco for drinks, a lavish meal and dancing.
The table was subtly decorated with the lovely flower arrangements and candles created by flower designer Sofia Barozzi of Il Profumo dei Fiori, while I styled it with gilded fruit and frames.
This wedding, with its golden early Autumn light, is one of my all time favorite.
